About
I’m Robert Scott-Celedón (b. 1983); a chamber composer, folk improviser, writer & educator based in Richmond, Virginia; with creative objectives that emanate directly from my personal objective: to overcome a life-long sense of ‘out-of-place-ness’ / diaspora.
My path has been non-traditional — forged primarily through self-study & private mentorships. I was awarded a 2014 Gilman Scholarship to Tbilisi State Conservatoire, have hosted adventurous radio programs on WRIR & WMMT community FM stations, designed electronics with Death By Audio, studied fiddle at Cowan Creek Mountain Music School & was a composer fellow at the 2017 Bang on a Can Summer Festival.
Since 2022, I’m a music teacher for incarcerated youth.
My pursuit of music is motivated by a need of belonging & community. Recent collaborators include RVA Baroque, Classical Revolution RVA, Rumput kroncong ensemble, RAIC improvisation collective, composer Peni Candra Rini, clarinetist Anna Koch, percussionist Kevin Zetina, pianist Vicky Chow & violist Carrie Frey.
